United Nations-- It's your world!

I think I may actually put the UN on my Axis of Evil list. Okay, so here is the deal.... "The United Nations (UN) is a New York City and Geneva, Switzerland based international organization whose stated aims are to facilitate cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights, and achieving world peace." (Thank you Wikipedia)
In the last couple of years there has been a movement started by a film called "Invisible Children", in 2003 people first saw the horrors of the LRA (I'll get to it eventually I swear), and in 2004 a nonprofit group was created (Invisible Children Inc.)
Now let me explain the LRA and the current African (mostly Ugandan) situation. The LRA, or Lord's Resistance Army, has been abducting kids and forcing them to fight in a war they've probably never heard of. This is of course after murdering their: friends, family, teachers, and pretty much everyone else around them.
Back to the UN... The UN hasn't made one single move since 2002 (That was putting an arrest warrant out for Joseph Koney leader of the LRA, and then never arresting him), and by the looks of it, they don't plan on it. Click my title, and you will be transferred to the UN's website, where if you mouse over the word English it cheerfully displays the phrase "United Nations-- It's your world". I want it on record that this is not my world. My world is a world free of genocide, free of child soldiers, free of raped wives, a world where you can be a kid with a father not slaughtered in front of your eyes, a world where if we see injustice we take action. So while the UN is sitting on their collective fat butts, I want it to be known that I do not and will not accept what they are doing. As John Stuart Mill once state:
A person may cause evil to others not only by his actions but by his inaction, and in either case he is justly accountable to them for the injury.
Here is where I toss it all in, by not doing anything to stop the numerous problems in Africa, we are allowing them to continue. I wanna end this with one final quote by Meister Eckhart (A German theologian)
The price of inaction is far greater than the cost of making a mistake.
What do we have to lose?

  1. Another amazing post. I agree; the UN doesn't help anything anymore. It's effing stupid...

  2. Yeah but the UN is based in the Western, more civilized part of the world. They're too good for those kinds of affairs. [/sarcasm]
The UN is useless. We just have to accept the fact. No amount of ranting or protesting will MAKE them do anything. Incase you haven't noticed, they never have. Just pretend they don't exist. Because they practically don't. That way you can't lay the blame on someone and just ridicule society. That isn't very productive. Instead, ignore the failures and flaws and try to do something yourself.

You obviously are, with the Invisible Children Movement. Keep it up.
